Head PGA Professional
Steven has been a PGA Professional for 13 years and is the Head Professional in Millicent Golf Club.
A flourishing parkland course with mature trees and a membership of over 1,000 across the men’s, women’s and junior divisions, the course features challenging but fair holes, lush fairways and five lengthy par 5’s. Meticulously maintained, and excellent playing conditions all year-round, including full greens.
Plenty of water hazards abound – the front nine runs around the perimeter, with 4 holes lined by the river Liffey. More water features await on the back nine, which runs inside this loop.
Millicent Golf Club offers extensive practice facilities including a designated short-game area, large putting green and a 14 bay floodlit driving range complete with outside hitting areas. These facilities along with the course provide students with everything they need to improve their golf.
Turning professional in 2013 after winning the Barton Cup with Killeen GC, Steven started his training in Lucan GC where he developed a passion for coaching and developing golfers of all skill levels from beginner to elite. During his time in Lucan he honed his skills under the instruction of Head Professional Jim McBride, designing and executing everything from individual lessons to ladies and junior group sessions.
Moving from Lucan GC into Halpenny Golf allowed him to further expand his knowledge within the industry. With his desire to learn and improve he quickly became head of custom fitting and product training within the company. He was able to continue to develop his coaching skills whilst continuing to teach all levels of players and also took the opportunity to deliver beginner and intermediate golf programmes for companies such as Alliance Insurance & Pfizer.
In September 2018 he made a decision to take on a full time coaching role in Celbridge Golf Range. Steven’s upstairs studio boasts a twin hitting bay, indoor putting green. Using Trackman which collects 26 different data parameters enables Steven to collect all necessary club and ball information in order to optimise golfers improvements and eliminate any guesswork.
In January 2024 Steven went full circle in his career as he once again took up a position in a busy members club. This time it was as a PGA Coach in Newlands Golf Club, where under the tutelage of Head Professional Brian Cosgrove he further refined his skills and he decided that working in a golf club was were he needed to work.
